Paediatric H1N1 Vaccine has just been released for all children from 6 months of age to less than 3 years of age who will require 2 doses 4 weeks apart.

NEW CERVICAL CANCER VACCINE (GARDASIL)…..

GARDASIL (HPV) vaccinations are available at all our surgeries.  The vaccine is free to eligible females, the consultation will be bulk billed, but a fee may be payable if other problems are discussed at the time of vaccination.

THE HPV PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE FREE to all females from your GP or Community immunisation provider for:

• 12-13 to 18 year old girls who have not completed their course at school; and
• 18 to 26 year old women

.GARDASIL is given as a series of three injections into upper arm muscle.  It is usually given within a six month period:

• dose one: at a chosen date
• dose two: 1-2 months after the first dose
• dose three: 4-6 months after the first dose

The vaccine is most effective when all three doses have been given and the full course is completed.

THIS PROGRAM ENDS ON THE 31 DECEMBER 2009.

ALL FEMALES IN THE ABOVE AGE GROUPS MUST HAVE STARTED THE COURSE WITH THEIR FIRST DOSE OF THE VACCINE ON OR BEFORE 30 JUNE 2009, AND COMPLETE ALL 3 DOSES BY 31 DECEMBER 2009.

HPV vaccine is available for females oldler than 26 years of age at a cost from your pharmacist, approximately $150.00 for each dose. A prescription would need to be obtained with a consultation from your GP.
