After Hours
An after-hours general practice service is based at the Mt Barker Hospital outpatients department, known as GP-Care. It is NOT a hospital service.
GP-Care is wholly owned by the Adelaide Hills Division of General Practice. Local hills GPs will be servicing GP-Care on a roster basis in a private capacity - it is not a bulk-billing service. Opening Times for GP-Care are:
- Monday - Friday 6.30pm to 9.00pm
- Saturday 1.00pm to 6.00pm
- Sunday Public Holidays 10.00am to 6.00pm
An appointment can be made by ringing GP-Care on 1300 472273 or just turn up and you'll be booked in at the earliest opportunity. Please be aware that the Doctor on duty may be called to attend to an emergency. These circumstances are beyond the Doctor's control.
A maximum gap fee of $35 will be charged in addition to the Schedule Fee.
Full payment for your visit to GP-Care is required at the time of consultation.

Out of Surgery Visits
House calls are made for emergencies, and the old and infirm only, and early bookings and indication of urgency is appreciated, thank you.
The doctors have admitting rights to the local private and public hospitals and our patients are visited daily when required. Regular visits and emergency calls are made to the various Nursing Homes and Hostels in the area.
Repeat Prescriptions/Referrals
The Doctors follow the recommendations of the Royal College of G.P's and do not usually write prescriptions without seeing the patient. This ensures that you get the appropriate medication. Remember that some drugs, which are not prescribed and also some herbal remedies, may adversely react with current medication and therefore be quite dangerous. Let your doctor know!
All repeat prescriptions and repeat referrals to specialists require a consultation. These brief consultations for repeat prescriptions/referrals will be bulk billed.
Sterilisation
All equipment, after each use, is cleaned and sterilised to the highest standard using the latest technology in autoclave sterilisation. Disposable needles are used for all procedures including accupuncture.
